Rosemary Lee OBE is an award winning choreographer and filmmaker. These stunning magical dance films transport you to beautiful places whilst highlighting the grace and individuality of every performer. Join Rosemary for an afternoon of dance on film, where she will guide us through her creative process and share how the films were conceived.
Rosemary has spent four decades creating dance works in a variety of settings, from disused factories to natural environments like beaches and urban trees. She works with both professionals and non-professionals, including people of all ages, from children to elders. Her films, commissioned by the BBC and showcased at galleries and festivals, often focus on the human connection to the environment. Her installations have been internationally recognized. In 2023, she was awarded an OBE for her contribution to dance.
In her film series Moving Worlds, Rosemary presents a selection of her award-winning dance films made since the 1990s. The films feature performers of all ages and showcase themes of humanity's connection to nature, such as a boy leaping through sand dunes and performers gliding through a cathedral of trees. Rosemary engages the audience with an informal presentation, sharing insights into how and why she made the films, and answers questions from the viewers. The series highlights her unique contribution to dance filmmaking over the past thirty years.
